Gainesville’s The Future Now return with a triumphant follow-up to last year’s “Hazy Orange Sunday” with two songs that delve further into 90’s alt-rock worship while adding a jarring heaviness to their sound. On the A side, “Hangman” navigates the shadows between “Bleach” and “Nevermind” with a thick, aggressive lead, while the B side offers a mellower and melodic number reminiscent of Dinosaur Jr or The Lemonheads.

CITY OF SHIPS Once Again Hit The Road–East Coast Tour Dates: 10/7/11
Fresh off a two month jaunt in Europe, the force that is CITY OF SHIPS is preparing to take on the East Coast later this month. The band will be joining CIRCLE TAKES THE SQUARE for many of the dates. Highlighting this trip will be a stop in Gainesville, FL at The FEST X.

The Future Now Detail Upcoming 7″
Just in time for everyone’s favorite punk rock holiday, The FEST, Gainesville’s own THE FUTURE NOW will be bringing us a new 7″.
The record is proudly being co-released by SOUND STUDY RECORDINGS and KISS OF DEATH RECORDS.
The two brand new tracks were recorded at Black Bear Studios with Ryan Williams.
The record’s A side, “Hangman” can be downloaded free HERE as a part of the SOUND STUDY RECORDINGS free 2011 digital sampler. The 7″ will serve as a follow up to the bands acclaimed 2010 debut LP, “Hazy Orange Sunday.”
